Associate Professor of Neurology

Heather Anderson, M.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. She is also the Neurology Clerkship Director for the medical school. Dr. Anderson is the Director of the Education Core for the KU Alzheimer's Disease Center, Director of the Down Syndrome Dementia Clinic, and is a sub-investigator in the Alzheimer's Disease Clinical Research Program.

Dr. Anderson is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a degree in Biochemistry. She is a graduate of the University of Kansas School of Medicine. During her last year of neurology residency training at the University of Kansas Medical Center, she served as Chief Resident. She has also completed a Neurophysiology Fellowship at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Anderson is board certified through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She is chair of the Medical Student Education Committee and is a member of the Curriculum Planning Committee at the University of Kansas Medical Center and School of Medicine. A native Kansan, Dr. Anderson is a member of the American Academy of Neurology.

As a neurologist in the KU Alzheimer's Disease Center, Dr. Anderson evaluates and cares for patients with memory disorders. Her research concentration is in Alzheimer's disease and brain aging. She has a particular interest in lifestyle factors and their relationship to brain health in American Indian elders as well as in the evaluation and treatment of Alzheimer's disease in Down syndrome. Dr. Anderson also serves as a sub-investigator on other clinical trials for Alzheimer's disease.
