Greater KC Chamber roles out "Big 5"

The Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce announced plans to focus on five ideas for regional economic growth, including the KC Regional Translational Research Inititiative. The Initiative plans to raise $40 million to triple the $20 million National Institutes of Health Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) given to the University of Kansas Medical Center in 2011.

It's called Frontiers: The Heartland Institute for Clinical and Translational Research. Based at the University of Kansas Medical Center its aim is to transform laboratory discoveries into treatments and cures.
